/ The Challenge

Where the hours were going.

A pawn shop makes its money at the counter. Every item a customer brings in needs a fast, fair offer — too high and the deal loses money, too low and the customer walks.

Staff were researching values item by item on phones and laptops, often with a customer waiting. Offers varied by who was working, and there was no consistent way to account for condition, demand, or how long an item might sit.

/ What We Built

The AI-enhanced workflow.

We built a valuation engine that researches an item on demand and returns its fair market value alongside a recommended purchase price designed to keep the deal profitable.

Staff describe the item and its condition; the tool pulls together market data, adjusts for condition, and explains how it reached the number. The same tool supports the selling side, helping set shelf prices that move inventory without leaving money on the table.

/ Capabilities

What it does.

F-01

On-demand market research

Fair market value for an item in the time it takes to describe it.

F-02

Recommended offer

A purchase price built around the shop's target margin, not a gut feeling.

The same engine helps price items for the shelf.

/ How We Built It

From friction to system.

  1. Step 01

    Learn the counter

We watched how offers were made and where research slowed deals down.

  2. Step 02

    Define the margin

The shop's pricing rules became the logic behind every recommendation.

  3. Step 03

    Build the engine

AI gathers and weighs market data, then explains its reasoning.

  4. Step 04

    Put it on the counter

A fast, simple interface staff can use with a customer waiting.

/ Outcomes

What changed.

  • Consistent, profitable offers on every item
  • Faster deals at the counter
  • Pricing confidence for newer staff
/ Questions

Common questions.

Does the tool set the final price?
No. It recommends a price and shows its reasoning; staff make the call.
Can this work for resale and consignment shops too?
Yes. Any business that buys items to resell benefits from consistent, margin-aware pricing.
